How the Snowdog track should be studded?
Our customers keep asking us about this. Warm winter is the reason why this question is of huge interests among Snowdog owners. Less snow means more pure ice. How can you ride comfortably in these challenging conditions and avoid skidding?
Normally, Snowdog users stud the track on their own. They all follow their own patterns, use their own methods. We as a manufacturer of these machines can't advise on this issue. Tracks that a third-party supplier delivers are not initially designed for studding. They can get be easily damaged or torn due to simple carelessness. So, it is up to you whether to stud the track or not. This is customer's responsibility.
Still, we are sharing with you the tips of the Snowdoggers who have vast experience in studding tracks. Guys, watch the videos below and decide for yourself!
Joshua Treadwell:
“We are going to be installing some studs in the Snowdog track. Last year, I already put Kold Kutter studs. You can find them on Amazon. I studded my track last year with a 1-2-1-2 pattern and it does not seam to be enough. I'm going to throw some more studs. They come in a bag of like 250. I'm going to do V pattern and stud this a lot more than it already is”.
Max Zaruba:
“To enhance traction on the track of my Snowdog during challenging conditions such as glare ice or slippery terrains, I strategically utilize my electric drill along with 9-12 mm studs. This meticulous process involves attaching the studs in a configuration that spans three rows wide on the track all of the way around.
I've diversified the studs on my Snowdog track machine by exploring various options ranging from 9 to 12 mm, sourced from platforms like Amazon. This versatility allows me to tailor the stud selection based on specific terrain conditions, ensuring optimal traction and performance in diverse environments.
The first step entails carefully measuring and marking the positions for the studs on the track. Precision is paramount to ensure even distribution and optimal traction. The 9-12 mm studs for your Snowdog don't require pre-drilling because the electric drill provides ample power to create holes directly, ensuring a precise fit for the studs. The drills' efficiency and effectiveness eliminate the need for a separate pre-drilling step, streamlining the stud installation process”.
“The three-wide configuration of studs significantly increases the overall contact points with the ground, enhancing the snowmachine's ability to grip and maneuver through icy or slippery conditions. This meticulous approach to modifying the track demonstrates a commitment to safety and optimal performance, enabling me to confidently traverse challenging landscapes with my Snowdog snowmachine.
In conclusion, the utilization of electric drills and 9-12 mm studs in a three-wide arrangement on the track of my Snowdog is a thoughtfully engineered solution to address the demands of adverse weather conditions, providing me with a heightened level of traction and control during winter excursions”.
